Last time I spoke with Lan Yi was a few months ago. She was choosing a financial advisor to manage her portfolio and wanted to hear my opinion. She had just moved to a new job and was excited about it. She was as pleasant and upbeat as usual, and our conversation was filled with laughter. This is the Lan Yi I remember always: funny, cheerful and kind.

It will take a while for me to accept the fact that I will not hear Er Lan's laughs again. I can not imagine the loss of her family, especially her husband. David, if it offers any condolence, you are a lucky man to have shared a happy life with her. How I wish there is afterlife so that when my time comes I can see those friends and loved ones who have left too soon.

I want to thank everyone on the committee to organize last year�s reunion. I treasure every moment at the reunion, especially with Lan Yi. Lan Yi's passing is a cruel reminder how unpredictable life can be. Let's live it fuller and let's celebrate Lan Yi's life. I think she'd agree with me.
